HC orders securing of YSRC rebel MP's medical reports

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to secure medical records of YSR Congress rebel MP K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju pertaining to his case of alleged custodial torture.

The directive came after a single judge bench headed by Justice Ramkrishna Prasad heard a petition filed in this regard by the rebel MP, seeking protection of medical reports pertaining to departments like cardiology, general medicine and radiology at the government hospital in Guntur.

Raghu Rama Krishna Raju filed the petition in the wake of a proposal to destroy records on a routine basis after a period of two years.

The High Court judge directed the medical superintendent of Guntur Government Hospital to file additional counter affidavits in the case before adjourning the case to next week for hearing.
