Layout Regularisation Scheme earns Rs 380 crore for city urban body

The urban body is aiming to collect Rs 700 crore revenue through LRS by July end or by August second week.

HYDERABAD: The HMDA has earned Rs 380 crore from the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS). The urban body is expediting the process of clearing 1.75 lakh applications that it received . More than 45,000 applications have been cleared and applicants are given five payment options to pay LRS amounts. Although swiping machines have been introduced to make payments, applicants are shying away to some extent in view of the 0.9 to 1 per cent service charge.

Nearly 70,000 applications were found to have shortfalls and applicants were asked to submit additional documents within a month. Another 25,000 applications were rejected for lack of clear title. Some of the properties were found to be either assigned land, shikham (catchment) lands, notary lands, those failing in master plan route or having title disputes in courts. The urban body is aiming to collect Rs 700 crore revenue through LRS by July end or by August second week.
