Monsoon arrives in Bengaluru, recieves 15.7 mm rainfall

The city recorded 15.7 mm rainfall, while HAL area witnessed 16.8 mm.

Bengaluru: The heavy rainfall on Monday evening brought down many trees and led to traffic jams because of water logging in several parts of the city. The city recorded 15.7 mm rainfall, while HAL area witnessed 16.8 mm on Monday, the Met Department said.

The maximum temperature was 26.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 20.7 degrees Celsius. Since the monsoon has arrived, the city will witness heavy rains over the next four months.

The average temperature for Tuesday and Wednesday would be around 28 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius. BBMP officials said that trees fell near the bus shelter in NR Colony, in HSR Layout, Hosahalli and 33rd cross, 4th Block, in Jayanagar. Water logging was reported in Viveknagar.

The traffic police department reported slow moving traffic near Basaweshwara Circle towards Cauvery Theatre circle, Toll Gate junction towards Satellite Bus Stand, Jayadeva Hospital junction towards Jedimara Junction.

Traffic jams were also reported between Peenya Circle and Jalahalli Cross junction and at Trinity Circle from Mayo Hall junction to Ulsoor towards Byappanahalli junction.

Slow moving traffic was also reported at Kamaraj Road junction towards Cubbon Road junction, Cauvery Arts and Crafts Circle towards Vellara Hunction and BTM 29th main junction towards Silk Board junction.
