Court orders case against Sadhvi Prachi for slur

Mr. Easwar had earlier given a police petition against Ms. Prachi in this connection.

Thiruvananthapuram: The chief judicial magistrate court here on Monday ordered the Museum police to register a case against VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi for her controversial ‘Muslim Mukth Bharat’ statement. Activist Rahul Easwar had lodged the petition citing that the statement of Sadhvi was a violation of constitutional values.

The court directed the Museum police to register a case under section 153 (A) of Indian Penal Code, which pertained to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion. The court ordered to initiate further procedures as per CrPC 156 (3). Advocate Sateesh Kumar who appeared for Mr. Easwar said that though Ms. Prachi did not make her statement here, it could pollute the minds of anyone here also. Hence, the petition would have legal validity.

Mr. Easwar had earlier given a police petition against Ms. Prachi in this connection. His contention was that the statement was offensive and would harm the secular fabric of the nation. The crime attained more significance as she even contested in polls, he said.

Mr. Easwar had also urged the police to take steps to withdraw the video footages of Ms. Prachi's controversial statement that was being circulated on the internet. Ms. Prachi made the controversial statement at Roorkee. She said that having achieved the mission of making a Congress-free India, it was time to make India Muslim-free.
