Hyderabad: MP seeks more train halts

Peddapally MP Balka Suman said having inter-city trains would improve growth.

Hyderabad: Is it possible that a person from Ramagundam or any other place in Adilabad district to come to Hyderabad in the morning and return by evening? State MPs say it is possible if South Central Railway increases the number of trains between remote stations and Hyderabad.

Peddapally MP Balka Suman said having inter-city trains would improve growth. “There are such facilities in a few parts of AP and Rayalaseema. The frequency of trains between Guntur, Vijayawada, Kurnool and Hyderabad makes it possible for a person from those areas to visit Hyderabad in the morning and return home by evening after completing their work,” he said. Mr Suman said there were two trains from Kagaznagar to Hyderabad in the morning and evening and locals were depending on the railways to visit the capital. “We have requested SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav to increase the number of trains and he responded positively by introducing four more rail services,” the MP said.

Mr Suman said introducing stoppage for a few express trains at Ramagundam, Mancherial, Manthani and Bellampally railway stations for at least one minute would help locals reach Hyderabad easily. “Mancherial and Peddapally have been grown from a town to a district now. As per the requirements of a district, there should be stoppage of Navjeevan, Swarna Jayanti, Tela-ngana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, AP Sampark express trains,” he said. Mr Vinod Kumar Yadav said for the convenience of public, the SCR would consider the proposals made by the MPs in their recent meeting. “Stoppage of a passenger rail at any station is not under our jurisdiction and the Railway Board should take a decision. We shall take it to the notice of the board and wherever there are possibilities, we increase number of trains,” he said.
