Chennai: Girl dies in bike mishap; Kin hack lover
Chennai: Following the death of a girl riding pillion on her lover’s bike in an accident on May 4, her relatives hacked her boyfriend to death in Acharapakkam on Friday in neighbouring Kancheepuram.
Police identified the deceased as P. Parthiban, 22, a plumber. He was hacked to death on GST Road while riding his bike from Acharapakkam to Karampakkam near Maduranthagam, where he was supposed to meet the family of the dead girlfriend on Friday morning. As he was riding, six men in three bikes surrounded him and hacked him to death.
Police investigation revealed that it was revenge killing for the road accident death of his girlfriend Rohini Devi. She was killed on a road accident in Acharapakkam when she was riding pillion with Parthiban on May, 4, two days before her birthday. The two were going to buy birthday gift for her when her duppatta got entangled in the wheel of the bike and both fell on the road. She died in the hospital while he escaped with minor injuries.
After the incident, Parthipan went to work in Madurai and the girl’s family believed he was the reason for Rohini’s death and wanted to take revenge. So they called him and asked him to come for a meeting on Friday to execute the pre-planned killing. He reached Acharapakkam on Friday morning and was riding to Rohini’s house when he was murdered, police said.
Police had detained two of the suspects on Saturday after Parthipan’s brother demanded immediate arrest of killers of his brother by climbing the top of a BSNL tower in Acharapakkam on Friday night.
