Suresh Prabhu backs PM's statement on Somalia

Mr Prabhu alleged that both LDF and UDF are indulging in 'political opportunism'.

KOZHIKODE: Supporting the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who compared Kerala with Somalia, railway minister Suresh Prabhu said, “Modi has balanced the infant mortality rate among the state’s Scheduled Tribe community with that of Somalia, and in that, he wasn't off the mark at all”. It was during the press meet organised at Kozhikode as part of a campaign for BJP and its alliance that Mr Prabhu justified the PM’s statement.

Continuing deaths of infants due to malnutrition in Attapady was a major reason why the PM compared the state with Somalia. “Being a social workers and an activist before taking the responsibilities of a state and then the country, Mr Modi has worked relentlessly for tribals. That is why the condition of the community in Kerala disheartened him,” he pointed out.

Further talking about the current political scenario in Kerala, Mr Prabhu alleged that both LDF and UDF are indulging in 'political opportunism'. “For the sake of survival, LDF and UDF have come together under one platform, which was clearly evident in West Bengal and hence the only and best option for the people here is to go for an alternative, that is BJP and its alliances”, he added.

The BJP would break their myth in the coming election, as the people in both the states would expose their wicked strategies adopted till date. It is the first significant election BJP is fighting as strong contenders, he further added.
