Fire at Haj House, no casualty

Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out at the third and fourth portions of the Haj House building in Nampally around 6.45 pm on Monday. There was no casualty in the incident.

Firefighters, who deployed two fire tenders and nine personnel, said the fire started on the third floor of the Urdu Academy office and spread to the fourth floor.

While the third and fourth floors were shut, firefighters rescued employees from the first and second floors of the building as a safety measure.

“Luckily, there was no one on the third and fourth building premises. Files and other documents that seemed to be important were totally gutted. Our senior officers also reached the scene and were there till the fire was in control,” K. Chandrashekar, station fire officer (SFO), said.

After the blaze was put off, the city CLUES team collected evidence, but officials were unsure of the reason for the fire, saying a short circuit may have caused the fire.

The police registered a case under the Fire Safety Act and are investigating.
