Kottiyoor rape case: Kerala High Court to hear priests' bail plea today
KOZHIKODE: The High Court will consider the anticipatory bail petitions of three accused in the rape case of minor girl in Kottiyoor on Tuesday. The petitions of Wayanad former Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairman Fr Thomas Joseph Therakam, midwife Thankamma and superintendent of Holly Infant Mary Fondling Home, Vythiri, Sr Opheliya will be considered on Tuesday. Meanwhile, police had produced the first accused, Fr Robin Vadakkumchery at the Thalasserry Additional District Court on Tuesday after four-day custody.
Police is probing on the assumption that no more people are involved in the case. According to police, except the doctors and administrator of Christu Raja Hospital Kuthuparambu, seven accused are part of the conspiracy in saving the prime accused. There are total nine accused in the case. Sr Dr Betty Jose, member of the disbanded Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Wayanad had moved anticipatory bail petition in High Court on Monday.
