Delhi varsity students from Tamil Nadu petition Education Minister
Chennai: The students from Tamil Nadu, who got admissions in the colleges of Delhi University after scoring high marks in class 12, have demanded to change the outdated state board higher secondary syllabus.
Four students from Shri Ram College of Commerce have petitioned the School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan and others on Monday.
In their petition, they narrated how they get very little respect among their peers due to their lack of knowledge.
“For the past decade Tamil Nadu state board syllabus has never been changed and it is totally outdated. We can’t even answer a simple question like how many shareholders a private limited company can have,” they said in the petition.
Further, they said, “Not even a single Tamil student who studied in state board syllabus could answer the budget debate. Only the students studied in CBSE syllabus can answer it. So, we get no respect from our teachers.”
They found fault with the education system that is being followed in Tamil Nadu. “Every student deserves to get the quality education. We request to update the state board syllabus to make the students from the Tamil Nadu to cope and compete with other board students,” they urged.
