DGP launches TSR school's golden jubilee celebrations

The school was the vision of late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao who started the school in 1971

Nalgonda: Telangana state Director-General of Police, M. Mahender Reddy and NIT Warangal Director, N.V. Ramana Rao inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations of the Telangana State Residential School (TSRS), Sarvail, in the combined Nalongda district on Sunday by launching the logo. DGP Reddy is an alum of the school.

Other prominent alums who participated in the inaugural included retired IAS officer Dinakar Babu, joint transport commissioner C. Ramesh, among others.

The celebrations, which started on a low-key note due to Covid-19 precuations, will continue throughout the year.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahender Reddy attributed his personal and professional achievements to the qualities and character, whose foundations were laid during his school days.

But for the school, I would have been a farmer in my village. My teachers and the school opened new horizons in my mind.

It was the vision of late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao who started the school in 1971 as the-then chief minister of AP, because of which, several generations of rural students found opportunities which eluded earlier generations.

The DGP said that TSRS Sarvail was a role model for all residential schools in India, and as PM, Narasimha Rao replicated it to establish the Navodaya Vidyalayas in all backward districts of India to provide quality education to rural students.

He also attributed his selection to civil services to classmates, who guided him.

NIT Warangal Director, N.V. Ramana Rao, who was chief guest, said Sarvail alums commanded respect in society. The school was a "big brand", given the achievements of its alums across the world.

"I am privileged to be guest at golden celebrations of a great institution," he said. Mr. Dinakar Babu, former Adilabad collector and first batch student, said the vision of Narasimha Rao and land donor, Maddi Narayan Reddy, built an institution whose students are making a difference in every segment of society.
