He was speaking to reporters after participating in the sitting of the commission at Kottayam on Monday.

Kottayam: There have been violations of human rights against the students of Toms College of engineering at Mattakkara, said K Mohan Kumar, member of the state human rights commmission. He was speaking to reporters after participating in the sitting of the commission at Kottayam on Monday. “Though there is a preliminary assessment that human rights violations occurred against the students, the commission cannot reach a final conclusion without hearing the management side”, Mr Kumar said.

He added that since other forums were considering the cases, the commission could not register a case suo moto. Seven of the students and parents of the engineering college were at the sitting on the basis of the complaint given previously. Mr Mohan Kumar said that they had raised new complaints that the college was not giving the Transfer Certificate to join other colleges.
