M Thambidurai sulking?
Chennai: Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai, who became the first high-profile to appeal to AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala to take over as the Chief Minister, is missing in action in the Sasikala camp since Thursday amid reports he was sulking.
Mr Thambidurai, who was in New Delhi till last Thursday to seek an appointment with President Pranab Mukherjee and others, has not been seen neither at the Poes Garden nor the Golden Bay resort in Kuvathur near Mamallapuram for the past three days.
Mr Thambidurai being incommunicado for the past three days has led to speculation that he was sulking after he was overlooked for the post of presidium chairman by Ms Sasikala when she removed incumbent E. Madhusudhanan. However, he arrived at the resort late on Monday evening.
Sources said the senior MP may be upset with the fact that his rival from the Kongu belt - K. Sengottaiyan - was appointed as new presidium chairman. Mr Thambidurai was one of the first senior leaders to pitch Ms Sasikala's name for general secretary of the AIADMK and late for Chief Ministership.
Mr Thambidurai, who was one of the first to declare war on Mr Panneerselvam after he rebelled against Ms Sasikala last week, has not been seen with the AIADMK general secretary at the resort which she has visited for the third time in three days.
