Illegal occupants of guest houses removed: G Sudhakaran
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The illegal occupants of the government rest houses at Munnar, Sabarimala, Kuttalam and Aluva Palace guest house have been removed. PWD Minister G. Sudhakaran told reporters here that the Munnar rest house which was built by the British was given on lease by the previous UDF government for running a restaurant. Now the LDF government has asked the businessman to vacate the premises.
“The retired engineers staying illegally at Sabarimala rest house have been removed and litigation is going on. The building chief engineer had not informed the government of the encroachment at Aluva guest house. However, the chief engineer at Kuttalam rest house has filed a report,” he said.
The government has already appointed a committee on state-level social auditing comprising Dr. Aravind Kumar, IIT professor, and Kanai Kunjuraman. A district-level committee comprising two engineers and panchayat presidents will be formed. He alleged that the previous UDF government had initiated works to the tune of Rs 6,600 crore without allocating a single paisa in the budget.
