HYDERABAD: After nearly eight years, people from poor and lower middle classes who own land could get financial support from the government to construct their own houses. Alongside the 2BHK house scheme, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had assured that the government would provide Rs 3 lakh to build their houses if the beneficiaries possessed land.
With the polls approaching, some MLAs have made a list of potential beneficiaries for the housing financial aid scheme. Up to 10,000 people in each Assembly constituency limits are said to be willing to construct 2BHK houses in their own plots, if the government extended the assured Rs 3 lakh assistance.
With the 2BHK scheme running into difficulties, MLAs have taken up with the government to fund the house construction scheme.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the Rs 3 lakh aid would benefit more beneficiaries. Even people who own 50 square yards of land can construct their own houses, he said.
Incidentally, the maximum 2BHK houses have been sanctioned for Banswada Assembly constituency, which is represented by Srinivas Reddy.
