NIZAMABAD: North Telangana districts are in the grip of a cold wave since a few days. Nizamabad recorded 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday, a degree less that of Friday. The people have been suffering a lot due to the cold wave in their day-to-day life.
The roads are deserted till 11 am and after 8 pm as people hesitate to come out. There is decline in the numbers of morning walkers here at the government polytechnic grounds.
Beggars and footpath residents are the turned worst victims of the cold waves sweeping Nizamabad. Municipal corporation officials have set up a shelter for destitute people at the municipal guest house, but nobody has shifted there.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a Tibetan origin youth named Tsewang said that due to the cold wave, the sales of woolen clothes should have picked up in Nizamabad, but it has not. He came from Odisha to Nizamabad to sell woolen clothes in the winter season. “Due to demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes, our business has been badly hit,” he said.
