HYDERABAD: The state government has accorded administrative sanction to the tune of Rs 240 crore for the renovation and upgradation of various government hospitals in the Old City area. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said that the decision was made after a meeting with the health officials.
Akbar said that Rs 87.5 crore was sanctioned for the Government Nizamia Tibbi College and Government Nizamia General Hospital. Four new blocks with multi-level parking will be built at an expense of Rs 78 crore besides the renovation, repair, and restoration of the old heritage building for which Rs 9.5 crore was allotted.
Further, three new hospitals will be built in the Old City area for which Rs 105 crores have been sanctioned, including Rs 42 crore for the construction of a new 100-bed hospital in Kamatipura and another 100-bed hospital in Dabeerpura with a fund of Rs 42 crore. Another Rs 21 crore has been sanctioned for a new 50-bed hospital in the SRT colony in Yakutpura.
In addition, Rs 52 crore has been allotted for the upgradation of two government hospitals in Chandrayangutta, including Rs 45 crore for the upgradation of the 100-bed Urban Primary Health Center(UPHC) at Bandlaguda in the existing hospital and Rs 11 crore for the construction of additional floor and renovation of the existing building at Community Health Center(CHC) at Barkas.
The minister said that these funds would enable to improvement of the healthcare facilities in the Old City.
