Hyderabad: Cracking down on men who harass women and girls during the Ganesh festivities, the Hyderabad She Teams have booked 75 cases since the Ganesh Chaturthi festival began.
According to the po-lice, from September 2 till September 11, about 24 cases were registered by the She Teams for misbehaving with women devotees during their visit to the Ganesh idols’ immersion. On Thursday alone, 50 persons were booked at NTR Marg, Necklace Road, Tank Bund, Khairatabad, Abids, and other places for lewd behaviour.
On Thursday, the She Teams caught two men red-handed, displaying their private parts and touching women during the idol immersion procession near Tank Bund.
The police has video-recorded this disgusting behaviour and booked cases against the men. One of them is a minor.
Confirming the incident, a senior police officer of Hyderabad said: “In most instances, the accused were touching the private parts of the women and girls by moving close to them, and were throwing flowers at their private parts. Cases have been registered and further investigation is on.”
