‘Encroached’ loo sets record
Hyderabad: Though it has ignored Municipal Administration and Urban Development principal secretary Arvind Kumar's instructions to remove Loo Cafe from the footpath on which it has encro-ached, near the Secretariat, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday released a statement saying it has broken all records in maintaining good hygiene in the city, with over 10,000 people using washrooms.
The use of technology, IoT and a back-end command centre with a 24-hour monitoring system makes a clean environment possible despite heavy traffic in the city.
The statement said that highly trained uniformed teams deployed to cater to all the needs of washroom hygiene 24/7 was taking city washroom standards to the next level, spreading the “joy” of cleanliness.
In January this year, Mr Kumar had directed GHMC officials to immediately remove Loo Cafe from the footpath. He told the staff the footpath space must not be eaten up and all establishments have to be on the sides and not obstructing the little walking space that is available for pedestrians.
