16 patients die at Thane Hospital in 24 hours
Over 16 patients have reportedly died in the past 24 hours at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa in Thane district, Maharashtra. The hospital authorities initiated an investigation into the clinical factors that led to the deaths in the hospital run by the Thane Municipal Corporation.
Hospital Dean Dr Rakesh Barot verified the deaths of 16 patients, a majority of whom are elderly.
The deaths caught attention on August 10 after five patients passed away within just 12 hours.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa caters to a substantial influx of patients, specially for people from surrounding areas and neighbouring districts.
