Kochi: Crime Branch IG S. Sreejith will oversee the investigation into the death of medico Shamna Tasneem of Ernakulam Government Medical College over a year ago. This has been effected with the transfer of Ernakulam DCP Yatish Chandra to Thrissur as SP. The investigation into the case has been completed by the Crime Branch DySP K. Sasidharan and the chargesheet was set to be submitted in the court when he was transferred giving charge of the case to a new DySP George Cherian. The High Court has ordered to stop further proceedings in the case for a month on a petition filed by one of the doctors indicted in the report Dr Jilse George.
Mr Sreejith is learnt to have told Shamna's father Abootty that Crime Branch will strive to take the probe to its logical conclusion. Meanwhile, Mr Abootty is learnt to be mulling joining a party in the case filed by Dr Jilse George. Dr Krishna Mohan is the other indicted in the case by the apex medical board.
