ANANTAPUR: Disha police saved the life of a woman who attempted suicide following a dispute with her husband at Penukonda in Satyasai district late on Tuesday night.
Sources said Naresh of Penukonda got married seven years ago and has two children. The couple had been quarrelling over family issues for the past few months.
On Tuesday night, the quarrel became intense and Naresh walked out of the house. His wife consumed pesticide soon after her husband left.
A local sachivalayam staff member Aswini, who noticed the entire episode, alerted Disha police through phone. Police immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the unconscious victim to the government hospital.
Doctors treated the woman. They say she is out of danger as she had been brought to the hospital in time.
Penukonda police summoned Naresh and counselled him not to be rude with his wife and children.
Police appreciated the sachivalayam volunteer for her initiative, which saved the woman’s life.
