Online engg counselling dates likely to be out today

The state government will likely to go ahead with the engineering counselling if the confusion over the medical counselling continues.

Chennai: In view of the confusion prevailing over the medical admission, the higher education department is likely to take a call on conducting online engineering counselling on Friday.

The state government has approached the Supreme Court seeking an extension of the deadline to conduct the counselling and it is likely to be taken up on Friday.

The higher education department is waiting for MBBS counselling to get over before starting the online engineering counselling to avoid vacancies in the top colleges. "The counselling was already delayed by more than a week and further delay will affect the students who are supposed to join their courses on August 1," sources said.

After getting the approval from the apex court, the higher education department will likely to announce the dates for online engineering counselling.

The state government will likely to go ahead with the engineering counselling if the confusion over the medical counselling continues.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions committee announced the dates for vocational counselling. "The in-person counselling for vocational stream students will be held from July 18 to 20," TNEA announced.

The second phase of counselling for special categories will be held on July 16 and 17.

BVSc counselling to be held from July 24 to 26

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) will conduct counselling for BVSc and AH, B.Tech courses from July 24 to 26.

The counselling will be conducted at Anna auditorium in Madras Veterinary College, Vepery, in Chennai.

"On July 24, the counselling will be conducted for special categories and vocational stream. For academic stream students, the BVSC and AH counselling will be held on July 25 and for B.Tech courses the counselling will be held on July 26," the university announced on Thursday.

The candidates can download the call letters from the Tanuvas website www.tanuvas.ac.in and they can also view their rank list.

The eligible persons should attend the counselling in-person on the prescribed date and time along with their call letters. They also had to bring the necessary documents, certificates as mentioned in the call letters

Tanuvas also intimated the eligible candidates about the counselling through SMS and email. P.Srikarthika from Erode district has topped the BVSc and AH rank list this year.

She has secured 199.67 cut off marks out of 200 marks. The university has received 10,284 applications for 306 BVSc seats and 2,107 applications for 94 B.Tech seats.

Among the qualified candidates, 54 per cent of them are girls and 43.12 per cent are first graduates. This year 74 per cent of students are from rural background.
