Delhi gang held for stealing sarees from T Nagar shop

According to police, the salespersons of the store noticed the gang behaving unusually.

Chennai: The Chennai city police arrested six members of a gang that had stolen silk saris from a textile showroom in T Nagar.

The police arrested the gang members, including four women, while they tried to escape from the store after stealing the silk sarees. They were intercepted and taken to Pondy Bazaar police station.

According to police, the salespersons of the store noticed the gang behaving unusually. Four women standing in a row, diverted the attention of salesperson. The men were found looting the sarees and hiding them inside the bag. The owner alerted the Pondy Bazaar police who rushed to the store and arrested gang.

The arrested gang members have been identified as Tinku Raj( 38), Ram Kumar( 40), Beena(53), Jothi(48) and Sunitha(28), all hailing from Delhi. The police recovered sarees worth `2, 22,000 from them. Investigations revealed that the gang came to Chennai by flight and visited famous shops to steal costly silk sarees. Further investigations are on.
