KOCHI: People's representatives of local bodies along the Metro corridor had a joyful Metro ride on Monday. Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain, Kalamassery municipal chairperson Jessy Peter, Aluva municipal chairperson Lissy Abraham and members of local bodies took out Metro journey before its commissioning on Saturday. The Kochi Corporation team boarded from Palarivattom station while the Kalamassery team started journey from Apollo station. Representatives, along with their family members and friends, enjoyed the trip. It turned to be a good opportunity for some of the councillors to express their artistic skills.
"Though I had travelled in many other Metros, it was a different and unique experience to travel in Kochi's own Metro. It will be a safe and comfortable journey for the commuters, especially women. Metro is expected to give an impetus to tourism and industry and also will help to decongest city roads," said Mayor Soumini Jain. Meanwhile, Aluva municipal team travelled in another train from Aluva to Palarivattom.
