Chennai: History-sheeter attacks college student for stalking his daughter
Chennai: A first year college student was attacked with a knife supposedly by a history sheeter and his gang for stalking the latter’s minor daughter near Mylapore on Sunday.
Dharun Kumar, a resident of Mylapore, is a student at a college near Nungambakkam. Preliminary investigations revealed that Dharun Kumar was behind a 14-year-old school going girl in his neighbourhood for some months now.
The girl, a class 10 student at a private school there, is the daughter of Madhan alias Periya Madhan (55), a history-sheeter associated with a notorious gang in the city. Madhan had warned the boy several times to not come behind his daughter, but the boy persisted, police sources said.
On Sunday evening, Madhan had spotted the boy following his daughter. Enraged, he picked the boy around 10 pm and attacked him with a knife and left him there, according to police sources.
Passerby noticed the boy with bleeding injuries and moved him to a private hospital. He was shifted to a Government Hospital from there, police said.
Mylapore police have registered a case and are investigating.
Police said that the prime suspect, Madhan, has an attempt to murder case pending against him and was also detained under the Goondas Act once.
