Hyderabad: Newly painted? Some will spit

Hyderabad: Students of Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University have painted the walls of the flyover at SP Road to make it visually appealing. Within days, however, the paintings have been splattered with paan stains.

Eight BFA final-year students from JNAFAU have been painting birds and mammals at the flyover to spread the message of conservation of nature, since Monday.

P. Rahul, one of the students, said, “Everyday we work from around 6.30 am till 4 pm. On Thursday when we came for work we saw paan spit at two spots on the painting. Now we will have to apply fresh paint over it after making the same shade.”

When asked whether this was discouraging, Surya, another student, said, “It was discouraging when we saw it first, but we later realised that there would be many more who would not spit after seeing the paintings. So we continued our work.”
