Fire breaks out in Kailasagiri forest area at Srikalahasti

Kurnool: A massive fire broke out in Kailasagiri near Srikalahasteeswara temple in Tirupati district on Wednesday. Thick smoke spread across the areas and flames erupted till late in the night. The fire spread fast up to the Goshala near the Kalahasti temple, where cows of the temple taking shelter.

According to officials, the fire was triggered by some miscreants and more than two kilometers of the forest area was burnt in the fire. Authorities have been taking steps to prevent the fire from spreading to a Goshala near Bhardwaj Theertham.

Firefighters from Sri City, Naidupet, Venkatagiri and other places have been engaged and temple authorities in and around Kailasagiri area rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, striving hard for more than five hours. Vegetation in the entire was gutted in the fire.

Srikalahasti legislator B Madhusudan Reddy has instructed the local officials to control the massive fire. He came to the Goshala and reviewed the situation. He directed firefighters to ensure that the cows do not face any difficulties. More than 800 animals are there in the Goshala.
