Thiruvananthapuram: Archbishop M. Soosapakiam has demanded a probe into the alleged Satanic worship and the prevalence of such a cult in the state. This comes in the background of the rumours that Cadell Jeansen Raj murdered his parents Dr C. Jean Padma, 58, retired professor Rajthankam, 60, his sister Carolyn, 25, and a relative Lalitha, 70, under the influence of Satanic worship. The archbishop who expressed shock over the murder told reporters here on Wednesday that some people had irrational faith which should be exposed. The police have not yet confirmed that the murders were the result of Satanic worship. Satanic worship was brought to the state by a group of French tourists in 2000.
It started in Fort Kochi at first and spread to other parts of the state, especially eight districts, sources said. Investigations have concluded that Satan worshippers normally use specially designed message through tattoos, T-shirts and inverted crosses which have been made available across the state to spread their message, sources said. Isolated houses, apartments and rooms in college hostels are normally converted into Satanic churches. Most of those who get converted to the cult are Christian youth and some Hindus. The worship primarily focuses on giving Satan spiritual authority by reciting prayers used in Holy Mass backward. People who participate in black masses get drunk and drugged. Impure blood, urine collected on a human skull and triangle-shaped slices of bread were used in place of communion bread.
Sources said that many times, communion bread and consecrated hosts which are stolen from churches are allegedly used for the Mass. Though numerous cases have been registered on the theft of items from churches, it has not been proved that they were used for Black Mass or that the members of the Satanic cult were behind such thefts. Normally, Black Mass is conducted on the 13th of every month and organisers get participation from people by making claims that these can solve many problems, including financial woes and enmity. The door number of the apartment or the proposed venue of the Black Mass will be changed to 666, the customary symbol of the devil, to make sure that the customers do not stray into other flats and get caught. The organisers change the door number back to the original building number once the Satan ritual is over.
