Hyderabad police auction 962 seized vehicles

Hyderabad: The city police auctioned 962 abandoned and scrap vehicles that they had seized, on Monday at the Goshamahal police ground. The auction fetched the police auctioned about Rs 66 lakh. This will be deposited in the government treasury.

About 550 bidders from the state and Andhra Pradesh attended the auction, and bought 916 abandoned vehicles, including 893 two-wheelers, eight three-wheelers and 15 four-wheelers for RS 56,07,000.

The bidders also paid RS 10,12,000 to purchase 43 scrap vehicles, including 42 two-wheelers and a four-wheeler.

Bids for three two-wheelers were rejected for not reaching the upset price.

A press release stated that the police had notified owners through the media but most of them were reluctant to collect their vehicles. The condition of some of the unclaimed vehicles had deteriorated to such an extent that they could only be sold to scrap dealers, M. Srinivas, joint commissioner of police, City Armed Reserve, said.

Srinivas, chairman of the auction committee, during the auction asked the bidders to bid in a fair manner.
