Now, focus' is on motivating college students
KOCHI: Can you be a transformed person in three days? Yes, it is possible, that is what the selected students of arts and science colleges who attended the state motivation camps of Walk With a Scholar Programme of the collegiate education department feel. Four all-expense-paid camps titled ‘Focus’ were held - one each for the four universities - Kannur, Kozhikode, Mahatma Gandhi and Kerala - in Kozhikode, Kottayam, Trivandrum and concluded in Thrissur from January 13 to March 5.
A total of 177 students from 162 colleges took part in these camps getting guidance and orientation for employment or higher studies and be better citizens.
"It gave them an opportunity to meet students from other institutions, experience the importance of sharing, address challenges of getting along and optimise their psychosocial development," said Dr S. Rajookrishnan, who was among the trainers.
They included Prof Mark McCaughrean, senior scientific advisor, directorate of science and robotic exploration, European Space Agency; Dr T. P. Sasikumar, space scientist; E.K.Kutty, former director, ISRO, and Dr Jaikiran K.P, programme director, FLAIR, Govt of Kerala; Cmde. G Prakash, Commanding Officer, INS Venduruthy, Mr Jacob Punnoose, former DGP and Sijo Kuruvilla, founder CEO, Startup Village. The best campers selected were Remya K. S., Govt College Thrithala, Harishna M. U., University College, Trivandrum, Sunithamol T.S., St Dominics College, Kanjirappally, and Fasalul Abida Beevi, Govt Brennen College, Thalassery.
