SPAV organises sixth convocation for 430 pass outs
Vijayawada: School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPAV), a national institute of urban planning and architecture set up by the union ministry of education, organised its Sixth Convocation for 430 graduating students.
NITI Aayog member and Jawaharlal Nehru University chancellor Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, who was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address, congratulated all graduates and the faculty, who worked hard in shaping the minds of their students.
Dr. Saraswat advised students to be creative, curious, and enthusiastic while maintaining their honesty and integrity. They must become transformative leaders and succeed as problem solvers. He mentioned architecture 4.0, a new manifestation of contemporary technology, and explained how it is coping with industry 4.0.
SPAV Board of Governors’ chairperson Prof. Dr. Virendra Kumar Paul asked students to focus on an interdisciplinary approach in their planning and designing of architecture. He asked students to acquire good skills in information technology and emerging tools like artificial intelligence, virtual reality and machine learning for growing within their field.
SPAV director Prof. Dr. Ramesh Srikonda presented a detailed report of the institute’s achievements during the last two academic years. He explained recent collaborations between SPAV and foreign universities in France, Italy, Australia, Norway, Austria, Singapore and UN Habitat. This has helped SPAV students acquire universal skills.
At the convocation, 10 graduates received gold medals for academic excellence during 2022 and nine graduates received gold medals for 2021. 18 Best Thesis Awards have also been conferred on students of graduate and post-graduate courses in the fields of planning and architecture.
