Accident claims lives of two at brick factory

Kurnool: A heart-wrenching accident at a brick factory near Kalvabugga village in Orvakal mandal has claimed the lives of two individuals. Bolleddula Sunitha, a 28-year-old woman from Sindanuru village in Jogulamba Gadwal district, and Viditya Nandu, a 15-year-old girl from Jeedigutta Thanda in Balanagar, lost their lives when a water tank collapsed on them while they were washing clothes near the brick shed.

Sub-inspector Raja Reddy of the Orvakal police station confirmed that the incident occurred at Rama Subba Reddy's brickyard in Kalvabugga village. As per initial reports, Sunitha and Nandu, who were employees at the factory, were washing clothes near a water tank when its wall unexpectedly collapsed, burying them under debris.

Upon receiving a report of the incident, the Orvakal police promptly arrived at the scene and secured the area. A case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and identify any potential violations of safety regulations.

Deputy Commissioner of Labour (DCL) K. Venkateswarlu expressed concern over the involvement of a minor in the incident and confirmed that a separate investigation will be conducted into this aspect. If the investigation confirms the employment of a child, strict legal action will be taken against the brick factory management.
