‘Swach Sandesh Yatra’ for Sabarimala pilgrims begins on Monday

HYDERABAD: A unique initiative “Swach Sandesh Yatra” was launched here on Monday by team Punyam Pookavanam to educate the pilgrims heading for Sabarimala from Telangana to keep the environment of the hill shrine clean.

The 10-day journey, also known as Chaithanya Ratham, will cover over 900 kilometres and pass through 9 districts of Telangana with an aim to spread the message to responsible pilgrims, to keep up sustainable tourism and eco-friendly practices.

The Swatch Sandesh Yatra – Chaithanya Ratham will be covering Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Warangal Rural, Warangal Urban and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

The Yatra was flagged off by His Highness Avittom Naal Ravi Varma Raja (Pandalam Royal Family) under the supervision of Bramhasri Unnikrishnan Namboothiri (Sahaya Archakudu – Sabarimala) lead by Manikantan Nair and Sunil Sathyavolu at the Bolarum Ayyappa Temple. The initiative is aimed to promote this message and ideology of Punyam Poonkavanam across Telangana state.

Sunil Sathyavolu, the lead Representative of the Yatra said “It is a pleasure to announce the commencement of Swach Sandesh Yatra, led by Punyam Poonkavanam in the State of Telangana starting from December 11 to December 22.”

“During the Yatra, an ‘Akhanda Jyothi’ will be taken around the State in a Divya Kankanam form. We are working towards and believe that Swach Sandesh Yatra will be a great success and will be beneficial to Sabarimala pilgrims of Telangana,” Sunil added.

Guru Swamis from over 18 districts and rural localities have extended their support and are preparing to invite Divya Jyothi to their village and towns.

Encouraged by the overwhelming response, the team is hopeful that they will successfully educate and implement the project to keep the hill shrine of Sabarimala environment clean.
