Hyderabad: Scores suffer fractures in train tragedy

Sixteen of the severely injured have been rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where 10 are critical.

Hyderabad: The impact of collision between the Hundry Intercity Express and MMTS train on Monday caused facial and limb fractures apart from injuries to thigh and abdomen of commuters travelling by the two trains.

Injuries on upper parts of the body are dominant among passengers, particularly the standing ones in the MMTS, who got thrown against walls and seats of the train, and against each other. Sixteen of the severely injured have been rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where 10 are critical.

P. Shekar, 36, suffered pelvic injury, Raheemud-din fractured his forearm fractures, Anuradha M., 46, suffered injuries on abdomen and legs, and P. Prabhakar has facial injuries.

Three of the injured are in Care Hospital, where Mohammed Sajid, 43, has undergone surgery for facial fractures.

Bakeshwaramma, 52, is undergoing treatment for internal injuries. Thirty-five-year-old V. Rajkumar was shifted from OGH to Care Hospital when his thigh got deformed because of fracture.

The South Central Railway has assured that they will take care of all expenses. Its officials said they are in touch with relatives of those admitted to hospitals.
