Children make the most of maiden Kochi metro ride
KOCHI: They are special ones and this ride turned out to be very special for them. A total of 28 orphans belongings to Prathyashabhavan at Kodungallur had a dream Kochi Metro Rail ride on Saturday which was facilitated by the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and teachers of Sree Narayana Mangalam Engineering College, Maliankara, Paravur. The children had an enterprising visit of Kochi city as well after boarding from Aluva and then disembarking at the Maharaja’s station. All through the journey students gazed in amazement through the glass panes the vivid sights outside including skyscrapers and together rejoiced.
Apart from that the elders took them to various parks in the city including the Subhash Chandra Bose and Children’s Park and to the Marine Drive and they merrily played and mingled in these spaces. Many of them had their maiden visit to the city. The NSS volunteers bore the expense for the journey of the children. Programme officer Arjun Santhosh, secretaries M V Lekshmy and Nithin Davis led the organizing of the event.
