CBSE allows 5 years to correct names
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBSE has issued an order allowing students to correct names on certificates within five years. As per the revised order, names of mother and father can been revised within five years from date of declaration of result. This was a correction order issued to the one on June 25, 2015 which said that correction in date of birth and names of mother and father shall be entertained by the Board only for one year since the date of declaration of result.
Revised limitation period will be also be applicable to current ongoing cases already received at regional offices and headquarters and pending in various courts. The changes in name/surname or date of birth could be done by affidavit followed by an advertisement in newspapers. The CBSE order issued in 2015 had also allowed the changes in name or surname or date of birth via an affidavit followed by an advertisement in newspapers. The order also had said that applications regarding changes in name or surname of candidates may be considered, provided the changes have been admitted by the court of law and notified in the government gazette before the publication of the result of the candidate.
