No salaries for transferred OU assistant professors

The 180 professors had been transferred by the administration, which they resisted

HYDERABAD: Assistant professors of Osmania University (OU), numbering 180, have not been paid their salaries for this month so far. They are among the 268 assistant professors who had been recruited on contract basis to work in constituent colleges of OU. The 180 professors had been transferred by the administration, which they resisted. They suspect non-payment of salaries is a conspiracy to harass them for not accepting their transfer.

OU Contract Teacher’s Association president A. Parshuram said: “Out of 268 of us, 180 have been transferred to different constituent colleges without giving us any legal norms. We have resisted this. To harass us in the matter, 180 of us have not been given our salaries. One of the two major festivals is there and most of our families depend on salaries. We have been unable to pay our house rents. Usually, we get our salaries on first of every month.

Other employees of OU have, however, received their salary,” the association president pointed out.
They have lodged a complaint with TS Human Rights Commission (TSHRC) regarding their salaries, he stated. The transferred assistant professors had earlier approached the HRC on September 18. The commission is scheduled to hear the case on October 20.
