Complex heart surgery, a first in rural Telangana
Hyderabad: For the first time, an open heart surgery was conducted in a hospital located in rural Telangana state with doctors at a hospital in Lakshmakkapalli panchayat of Siddipet district successfully performing the surgery.
Announcing this major milestone in taking complex healthcare procedures into rural hinterland of the state, the hospital managing director Dr Sravan Kumar, said the RVM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre a bypass surgery was conducted successfully at the hospital last week.
"The procedure involved a team of 20 doctors and staff using the latest equipment. We have not been conducting many procedures since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic but now with the situation improving, the Institute was slowing restarting its complex surgical services," Dr Sravan Kumar said.
The hospital, he said, is offering cardiac care services to people from the surrounding villages, and also accepts Arogyasri health insurance.
Among those who addressed a press conference on the successful surgery were the RVMIMS dean Dr Patala G., superintendent general surgery Dr Srinivas, director medical services Dr Gopi Krishna, Dr (Major) Viswanath, and Dr Vijayamohan.
