Amit Shah, Arun Jaitley to visit Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospital
Chennai: BJP’s national chief Amit Shah and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley will fly from the national capital on Wednesday to visit Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa at the Apollo Hospital here and enquire about her health.
According to state unit president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, the two leaders are coming to the city only to visit the CM at the hospital here. They are expected to visit at 3 pm and thereafter return to New Delhi, say party sources.
Ms Jayalalithaa has been undergoing treatment since September 22 following complaints of fever and dehydration. Meanwhile, reacting to opposition parties' comments on Ms Jayalalithaa’s health status, Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, said some even went to the extent of accusing the Centre of “spying” on the CM by deputing doctors from the AIIMS. “This is absurd. They should desist from making such unsavoury and objectionable comments,” he said.
The minister also claimed that none of the Chief Ministers in the past has issued photographs during their hospitalisation or made alternate arrangements to manage the state affairs when they suddenly took ill. “Such a demand is preposterous,” Mr Radhakrishnan said. “I cannot comment on whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ms. Jayalalithaa,” he replied when asked when Modi is likely to visit.
Former party president C. P. Radhakrishnan who visited Ms. Jayalalithaa said the doctors were treating her well and she showed signs of recovery.
