Hyderabad: Rachakonda traffic personnel on Sunday rescued a two-wheeler rider who got washed away in an overflowing stream at Alair. The surviver, Jula Srikanth (30) was swept away by the rurging waters when he was attempting to cross a culvert.
As the stream was already flowing at an alarming level, police set up traffic stoppers on both sides of the Kolanupaka culvert at Alair, and deployed a team to monitor the traffic as well as the water constantly.
D. Srinivas, DCP, Traffic, Rachakonda, said that around 4.30pm, Srikanth from Jangaon district was crossing the culvert on his bike. Due to the flow, he slipped and fell in the flowing water.
The traffic personnel noticed this and immediately deployed a crane and rescued him. After this incident, movement on the culvert is completely closed for traffic movement, Srinivas added.
