SFI secures majority in MG polls

SFI claims it seized control of 45 out of 49 college unions in Ernakulam.

Kochi: SFI secured majority in MG University Union elections held to the college unions in Ernakulam district on Tuesday. SFI claimed that it seized control of 45 college unions out 49 colleges in the district where elections were held party-based. Party district secretary Sachin Kuriakose said that out of a total of 96 university union councilors, SFI got 89.

He said that SFI won all seats in 27 colleges. These included Maharaja’s College, Government Law College, Tripunithura RLV, Government Sanskrit College and Government Arts College, Tripunithura, Government Coll-ege, Vypeen, St Anns An-gamaly, Mar Baselios Ko-thamangalam, MES Marambilly, Jai Bharath Arakkappady, Mar Elias Kottappady, SNG Paingottur, SCS Neriamangalam, IHRD Kunnu-kara, Palluruthy Sienna, SN Law College Poothotta, Nirmala College Mul-anthuruthy, SIV Airap-uram, Mount Carmel Karukadam, Indira Gandhi College Nellikuzhy, CET Airapuram, CIST Angamaly, KMM Thri-kkakara, Aquinas College Palluruthy, Mar Athanasius College Kotha-mangalam and S NGIST, North Paravur. KSU district president Aloysius Xavier said his organisation wrested control of unions in Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha, Staz College, Edappally, SME Angamaly, Mar Kuriakose, Perumbavoor, Ilahia College, Muvattupuzha, fr-om SFI.

He said that 23 KSU university union councilors romped home in the elections. The colleges where it secured majority included BPC Piravom, St George, Vaz-hakulam, Manimalaku-nnu College, YMCA Aluva and BMC Arts Thrikkakara. KSU had earlier secured majority in SH Thevara.
