Palakkad: Two persons were killed after a private bus on its way to Bangalore from Kanyakumari hit a truck from behind at Kanjikode in Palakkad at 3.15 a.m. on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Sudheer Andrews of Mariyanattu, Puthukurichy in Thiruvanathapuram, who was the driver of the bus and Gireesh Seemappa, a passenger hailing from Hallekkal in Davangere district, Karnakata.
Girish died on the spot whereas Sudheer succumbed to the injuries at District Hospital in Palakkad. Three other passengers who suffered grievous injuries are undergoing treatment in Thrissur Medical College Hospital. The Highway police, Walayar police and fire force personnel rushed to spot of the accident and carried out rescue operations. Police said that the over speeding of the bus led to the accident and the friend portion of the vehicle was completely shattered.
