Delhi to Jaipur in 2 hours with new highway, says Nitin Gadkari

He announced that cameras will also be installed on NH-8 under intelligent transport system to keep watch on traffic rule violators.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on Sunday announced that a new access control highway will be constructed between Delhi and Jaipur at an estimated cost of Rs. 16,000 crore.

He said that the new access control highway between Delhi and Jaipur will enable the commuters to cover the distance of 270 km between the two cities in just two hours.

The work on this highway will be started from January 2017, and is expected to cost Rs. 16,000 crore.

Mr Gadkari said that land acquisition for this new highway will be started soon and suggested that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar should promote development along both sides of this highway so as to bring down the cost.

Mr Gadkari laid foundation for improvement of three junctions on National Highway-8 (NH-8) in Gurgaon, costing Rs. 1,005 crore and said that the work will be completed in 15 months' time instead of 30 months.

He announced that cameras will also be installed on NH-8 under intelligent transport system to keep watch on traffic rule violators.
