Rains Lash Several Parts of the City, Moderate Rains Ahead

HYDERABAD: City witnessed intense rain in the morning as well as in evening, ending a dry spell that lasted for a week, bringing relief from the hot and humid weather. Much of the evening rain occurred on the city outskirts.

The morning rain drenched Amberpet, Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir, Langer Houz, Narsingi, Kismatpur, Kothapet, Attapur, Rajendranagar, Golconda, Shaikpet, Vasanthnagar, Gurramguda, Sultan Bazaar, Old City, Tank Bund, Basheerbagh, Afzalgunj, Narayanguda, Koti, Abids, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Kapra, Serilingampally, Khajaguda, Gachibowli, Kukatpally, JNTU, Shivarampalle, Shamshabad, Ranga Reddy and neighbouring areas.

Golconda recorded 29 mm rainfall, the highest, followed by Serilingampally at 24 mm as per the TS Development and Planning Society report.

Rains were also recorded in the districts of Medchal, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahbubabad, Jangaon, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Khammam, Vikarabad, Nagarkurnool and Sangareddy.

As of Saturday, the state's highest rainfall was recorded in Nalgonda at 71 mm, followed by Yadadri Bhuvangiri at 53.5 mm and Khammam at 43.5 mm.

As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation persisted over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh which would bring light to moderate rains in the state for five days. The maximum temperature is likely to drop between 33º Celsius and 29ºC.
