Warangal: "People have wrong notions about blood donation. They should shed them and come forward to donate blood," pleaded Vice-Chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Dr Karunakar Reddy, here on Thursday.

He was participating in a blood donation camp organised as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the university in association with NSS and the Red Cross Society in Hanamkonda.

Reddy pointed out that the body has a mechanism to replenish the blood that is injected out in small quantities. There is no risk to health from blood donation. Any healthy person can donate blood twice or thrice a year. Within a few days, as much new blood will be formed within the body, he said.
