Road widening on Vyttila-Petta for Kochi Metro works by November
KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail construction works now stuck at Kunnara Park near Vyttila Mobility Hub are likely to resume along the Vyttila-Petta stretch by November. Top officials at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation told this newspaper that if the widened Vyttila-Petta Road is handed over on time, Metro works can begin from Kunnara Park to Petta by November. “We hope the momentum of works will pick up as monsoon has receded,” sources said.
Widening of the Vyttila- Petta road is on full swing and KMRL is hopeful of handing over the widened road to DMRC soon. Preparatory works like construction of drains and utility ducts are in the final stage and contractors have started road construction at Thykoodam. The DMRC has recently retendered the civil works from Kunnara Park to Tripunithura. The delay in land acquisition led to non-commencement of work between Vyttila and Petta, the fourth reach of the Phase I of Metro Rail.
