New collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla to focus on welfare programmes
KOCHI: K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla, the new district collector who assumed office on Wednesday, says his major focus will be on taking forward the development policies and projects announced by the state government for Ernakulam. “Accelerating the momentum of a series of projects proposed for the comprehensive development of the district will be given due prominence. Meanwhile, implementation of welfare projects also will be given equal importance,” said Mr Safirulla while addressing a press conference after assuming office.
The new collector also promised maximum efforts to speed up the construction works of Metro Rail. “A priority list of projects will be charted out based on which further steps will be taken,” he said. During the function, the outgoing collector M.G. Rajamanickam wished Mr Safirulla all success. ”Let the new collector could carry out the execution of development projects in a successful and speedy manner,” he said.
The new collector’s parents, Karamatullah and Mehtab Begum, and wife Asiya Yasmin were present on the occasion. Fort Kochi sub-collector S. Suhas, assistant collector Renu Raj, RTO Sadiq Ali, district planning cell secretary Sally Joseph and collectorate officials were also present. Mr Safirulla, a 2010 Kerala cadre IAS officer from Salem, was heading the State IT Mission.
