Indian Union Muslim League welcomes CBI probe into Marad massacre
KOZHIKODE: IUML leader PK Kunhalikkutti welcomed the move to hand over the investigation in to the larger conspiracy behind the second Marad massacre to CBI. Nine persons were killed in 2003 in the incident. The massacre was in sequel to one in 2002 in which five persons were killed. Talking to reporters at Malappuram on Thursday Mr Kunhalikkutti said that League had demanded CBI probe earlier.
Retracting from its earlier stance, CBI the other day said that the agency “has no objection” in taking over the investigation into the larger conspiracy in the planning and murder of nine fishermen at Marad “if the Kerala High Court directs so.” “We never hindered the attempts to hand over the case to CBI,” Mr Kunhalikkutti said. “I hope the mystery behind the conspiracy would be unveiled beyond doubts with the CBI investigation,” he added.
