Hyderabad: Hostel student dies, fever not identified

On August 9, the fever became severe and he was rushed to a private hospital 11.30 pm he died as he had developed severe complications.

Hyderabad: K. Rakesh, 15, a student of the BC Welfare Hostel at Hayatnagar, died on Wednesday before the cause of his high fever could be diagnosed.

Ranga Reddy district medical and health officer Dr Bhanu Prakash said, “The private hospital had taken throat swabs for swine flu and sent blood samples for testing for dengue. Swine flu tests will take three days while dengue will be confirmed in 48 hours.”

Sources in the health department said who Rakesh fell sick on August 2 was given paracetamol by the warden and sent to his home at Narayanpur in Nalgonda district where he was treated by an RMP.

He returned on August 7 after he recovered but fell sick the next day. He was given medicines at the hostel.

On August 9, the fever became severe and he was rushed to a private hospital 11.30 pm he died as he had developed severe complications. No case has been registered with the Hayatnagar police.
